2. Rev. Peter Herman2 was born in about 1767 in Pennsylvania. 3,5,18,19 He died in about 1853 in Catawba County, North Carolina.11 He has reference number 4847.


Peter Herman, after marrying Barbara Bowman, lived on Lyles Creek and later on the Catawba River in Catawba County. In 1828 he bought 251 acres on Clarks Creek a farm for $600 which later was known as the Peter Herman place. Peter and Barbara's children were Ephriam, Lorina, who married Adam Flowers; George, who married Barbara Hunsucker; John, who married Elizabeth Killian; Mathias, who married 29 June 1839 Anne Peterson; Katharine, Sallie, who married William Fox; Elizabeth, who married George Bowman; and Anna Herman, who married Grisson Spencer. Peter Herman gave land for St. Peters Church near Newton. He later belonged to the St. Paul's Lutheran congregation and was an elder for many years.

She was born on 25 August 1774 in Lincoln County, North Carolina. 5,18 She died after 1850 in Catawba County, North Carolina.5 Barbara died in 1870 in Catawba, Catawba County, North Carolina.
